I have checked this official link and found: http://www.learningcenter.sony.us/assets/itpd/notebooks/sz_series/article/specs.html
    (refresh the page!!!)

    1) some SZ model's display doesn't have have XBRITE feature:

For instance, within SZ2x standard, the 220/B (XP Home) has equipped with XBRITE while VGN-SZ230P/B (XP Pro) has not. Within SZ1x standard, VGN-SZ110/B (XP Home)has not supported XBRITE!

May be that's why, among those who are using standard SZ, some have complained the screen was not bright, while some said bright more than enough!

    2) All of the SZ240 (CTO) models (labelled "Made in USA"), configuration on DVD+R Write, DVD+RW, Write DVD-R Write and DVD-RW Write are inferior to "original models", e.g. 220, 230...that are labelled "Made in japan"

    Pls confirm your SZ configuration.
