    Hi, all.

Does anyone know if the only difference between the two is brightness levels (i.e., contrast ratio, etc. are all the same)?

A rep on the phone claimed that there is no difference in battery life between the two screens. I asked why, then, did Sony call it "ECO" and he claimed the name exists because it's the more economical of the two screens offered by Sony.

    Is this information correct?

I think the ECO is less brighter and vibrant than its cousin.

XBrite uses 2 backlight bulbs so you'll get a brigher, more uniform screen but less battery life. XBrite-Eco, as you guessed correctly, uses only 1 bulb but saves battery life.

But the newest generations of both screens are non-reflective?

No - the XBRITE panels are reflective.

Yeah - the regular XBRITE screens are for the bigger Sony's, and the Eco for the more portable ones to save power.

But the FS has a normal X-Brite and it HAS a non-reflective coating...

Hm. Why then does the FS have a normal X-Brite and the BX with 15,4" a X-Brite ECO?

After seeing a lot of these in person, I think the answer is unknown.

The XBrites I saw last night seemed less reflective than the ECOs. This may be because the XBrites are so bright they are literally "blowing out" the reflections you would ordinarily see in the panel.
