    Hi guys,

    I am going to buy a Sony SZ420NB ..

    I did read about that this computer is only Vista Compatiable.

    Questions are....

    1. Will this computer run in Window XP Pro?

    2. What feature will not working properly under the Window XP Pro O/S?

    3. Will I void my warranty by instal Window XP Pro?

    4. Will I be able to use the SZ220 or SZ3XX Driver on the SZ420NB?

    1) Yes. With A LOT OF WORK. And none of us has perfected it thus far.

    Many of us are working on it.
    2) Everything seems to work if you combine feedback from several people. But thus far, I haven't seen one person with zero problems.
    3) Nope. You just have zero support from Sony. They're too lazy to help you.

    I just finished install everything and it runs very good..

    I got 2 unknown device from my device manager.

    1. Modem device on HD audio bus

    2. Big storage controller card?? (translate from tranditional chinese )

    What i did is install all the SZ3 ultility then install the SZ3 driver.

    For Video card driver I use the

    Just so you all know that Microsoft offer to all the desktop/laptop that preloaded with Vista Business and Ultimate a "downgrade right" policy, you can have your cd key switch to XP PRO and later on if you would like switch back to Vista Business it possible.. for more detail please call Microsoft OEM division.

    I believe you have these few problems although your computer appears to run fine.

    1) Your memory card readers are not working.
    2) Your brightness control for your screen isn't working.

    Is your bluetooth working either?

    That is a VERY INTERESTING point to note.
    How are they going to offer this if Sony isn't bothering to support XP for the SZ4X series?

    nope the FN key is working properly... i installed using the SZ3 control events driver

    i think its the card reader..

    FN key is working..
    Bluetooth is working as well

    Bluetooth is installed under SZ4 Utility..
    and the FN key is installed under SZ3 Utility..

    fn and camera is just the driver from the SZ3

    i don't have the link.. but i got from the link that Bogart provide?

    its in vaio ftp link..

    That isn't possible...
    The SZ4 uses a different camera (newer) so if you used the SZ3 drivers, it wouldn't work. (Check the .ini file of the drivers...)

    I believe the Fn utility is from the SZ3 as you have said and the camera should be the SZ4 drivers. It wouldn't work otherwise.

    the camera work properly.. i can use them on msn or video mode.. with the sz3 driver
