I decided to uninstall Vista that came with my FE890 because it was just hogging up my ram for my games. I installed Windows XP media edition and to my surprise I didn’t find any XP drivers for my FE890? Does sony offer these drivers because I see other company offers them for their laptops like Dell. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm in the process of doing this also during the downtime here at work. I believe the Sony FE790 series are very similar to the FE890 and that all or alot of the drivers for the hardware are the same. The drivers for the FE790 are for Windows XP and you could use those drivers for your FE890. Unfortunately, I'm at work and only our patients are allowed on the wireless network, so I can't Download those drivers until I get home.

no it didn't work, a sign just pops up and says its for the wrong hardware so it won't install.

That link has been incredibly helpful, I was able to get XP and all of the drivers and utilities installed with the use of those files. All except one that is... the Bluetooth adapter. I've installed and uninstalled the driver repeatedly and it's no use, it's the sole remianing device (UGX) that isn't installed properly. I've been reading other posts around the web from people with Vaios not getting the Toshiba driver to work for them, and apparently there are other drivers available, including one with XP apparently. If anybody has a solution to this dilemna please let me know. I'm referring to the integrated Bluetooth adapter in the VGN-FE890 of course.

There is one other problem, and that's the integrated camera. It says the drivers are installed and the device is working properly in the Device Manager, but it simply doesn't work. Opening it up in the Control panel and clicking on the camera icon to test it out yields: "Creation of the Preview failed, check the device connection" blah blah blah. Again, if anyone can help with this it's greatly appreciated. Ironically, the integrated camera and Bluetooth were the two features that I was looking forward to having with this laptop in lieu of my current Vaio.
    Thanks!

I am having the same problem with my camera. I remember I could use it before installing all the xp drivers. Now it shows me the same error "Creation of the Preview failed". Could someone solve this problem?
    Thanks very much!!!

It's been over a month since my original post so I'm just keeping this fresh as more and more people purchase FE890s, with many of them no doubt wanting to install XP in lieu of Vista. If anyone has been able to get the built in camera or bluetooth working on the FE890 with XP drivers please let me know, I'd very much like to be able to use these features.

This definitely worked for me, every device is now working properly under XP on my FE890. I had the Webcam working before at one point but something caused it to revert back to the non-working driver which would appear to be working properly but wouldn't initialize the webcam. This driver got it working again.

I know this post is for XP drivers, but I could not find a relative post for my question. Can I install Mac os x on my vaio fe890? If so what about drivers? Has anyone tried that yet? Thanks,
