    I dont get what the differance is.

    All uk Sony vaio FW's and AW's have X black.
    All US sony vaio FW'S and AW's have Xbrite.

    is there any differance?

    Just stupid marketing crap. They're all glossy screens.

    Thanks,
    also is it worth the extra £60 for a FullHD screen?
    from WXGA++ (1600x900) X-black LCD to HD1080 (1920x1080) X-black LCD with multiple lamp?
    im guessing its going to be brighter and has a better resolution.

    but i dont watch any blurays , wont have a blu ray drive and dont watch 1920x1090 content.

    I'd certainly get the 1080p resolution screen. You get an extra ~25% more screen real-estate, plus you'll have a full 1080p resolution for watching HD movies, which you may decide to at some point. You can download HD content too, you don't necessarily need a Bluray drive.

    It depends if you can tolerate small fonts. 1920 has smaller fonts but it has better color and twice as bright. 1600 has just the right font size but the color is pale by comparison. Somebody may suggest a workaround by changing the DPI or lowering the resolution but neither solution is perfect. If you can still get it, buy FW11ZU model. Even though it's old, it is the best FW model you can buy. It has both 1600 with dual lamps. So, you get the best of both worlds. And you still get fast Radeon HD 3650 with 256MB VRAM.

    A 16.4" screen at 1920x1080 has a pixel density of 134.

    By comparison:
    Sony Z 13.1" 1600x900, pixel density of 140, yet it's still more than usable.

    If you'd like to compare the density to other laptop screens, use my table here:
