What would guys (mostly owners and those who will be one soon ;) ) would like to have for the future Z-successors? I am making a start:

    - Quieter fan
    - Illuminated Keyboard or Keylight
    - Multitouch Pad
    - A bit slimmer
    - Same size
    - Better graphics accelerator, but not if battery life suffers from it
    - No optical drive
    - SSD for a moderate price

Perhaps I will find some more features. Feel free to add your wishes. I am curious to see what comes up. :)

    Better graphics card....
The 9300 is really one of the smallest dedicated cards to do any gaming...

Switchable fan modes like on the LG P300

I always prefer a Hardware(Analog) volume control, I mean those little wheels also found on cheap pocket FM radios, much faster than pressing Fn+Fx 13 times =)

Fn combination to turn screen back light off completely...

Otherwise the points stated above =)

definately true with the volume control knob.. like all toshiba notebooks have.. :).. even if that not the case, I want to have a mute button.. I know s1 s2 does that job, but that is after you boot your machine. I watch a movie at full volume at home, forget to switch it off and then I cannot start a machine during the lecture :D.. A complete analog control to volume is nice to have..
and along with this.. sure.. add all rachuk, the notebook diety said :)

Disagree with the physical volume knob, I don't like the look of them, especially on such a sleek design. Quite like the idea of a mute button though.

    My suggestions:

    Definately a backlit keyboard
    Keep the optical drive
Not such a cheap plasticky cover for the dock station port (it's such a tiny thing but i still hate it)
Quieter fan (although this doesn't bother me as much as it bothers others)
    Multitouch Pad
    Same size

you can always plug your earphones when booting the laptop

but thats weird, even my FE has a mute button, and it works as soon as i turn on the computer

I would have the touchpad and mouse buttons moved up slightly towards the keyboard.
    Illuminated keyboard.
I want an optical drive, preferbly BR in the UK.
Reasonable SSD as well as BR.
    13.3".
Vista Ultimate in the UK for the top of the range.
    Maybe a tad thinner.

I don't think I would ever use the multitouch.

    I would like...

    Illuminated keyboard
    Illuminated VAIO on the lid
Exposed carbon fiber on the lid
Page Up and Page Down keys
    Multitouch from Apple

I would like Thinklight (less power hungry than an illuminated keyboard but does the job) and Thinkpoint (IMHO better than any touchpad, multitouch or not). :D

It would be nice if the DVD-RAM drive wasn't Mat****a, too...

Oh, and the ability to undervolt the 6x multiplier of P9500 below 0.925v (are you listening, Intel?). ;)
