Hey there,
I am trying to write a little program that can read the data from the Z's sudden motion sensor... Eventually having something like the SmackBook program...
I am running XP, there is just the driver for the sensor, but no program like on Vista.
In Vista it can be accessed through the Vaio Control Center.
I think it is a standalone executable.
Could someone be so nice and tell me the name, or even tell me how I can get a hold of this utility? In what Setup is this file located? Or maybe someone could be so nice an zip the folder containing this file and upload it for me?
Thank you!

I can't get the file extracted from the setup, besides I don't really know which setup contains this utility...
Could someone who runs Vista just watch the taskmanger->processes, then start the utility (in the control center), look what process appeared, then search you program files directory for this exe and just zip the folder containing it and send or upload it for me?
Would be really nice!
And in the end you would profit, because I will share my knowledge and the programs I write! -
Hi. I would be willing to help you. But I do not see anything about HDD motion utility in the control panel. To the best of my knowledge, it is not a standalone exe, but a driver used by SONY VAIO Control Centre. You can download the driver from esupport.sony.com. The newest version is 1.3, I think (it is for the VAIO TT sereis).

Hi falang,
you are running vista and you have installed all utilities etc. right?
Because the way the Vaio Control Center is organized it looks like there are only standalone exe's, the battery care for example is an executable called BatteryCare.exe which can be opened without going through Vaio Control Center...
The driver filter (shpf.sys) is not what I am looking for...
But there is a utility, I am pretty sure it was in the Vaio Control Center, where you can set the sensitivity of the motion sensor...
It has bars for each axes that showed the acceleration...
I cannot install the programs for vista because I have XP...
Could you look again please? It is in the Vaio Control Center... -
With the vaio control center open, it doesn't look like anything extra appears when the HDD Protection pane is opened.
-
hmm... then it might be integrated in the control center...
Is it a standalone window?
if yes:
Did you check the processes in the taskmanager?
What happens if you click in taskmanager (with the Protect window open) on the applications tab, then on the Protector window entry right click and select "go to process...", which process is highlighted?
