My Z11 is lagging. At first it was just Firefox, but now my volume and screen brightness keys are lagging as well.
I have checked out all of my startup programs, my thermal strategy, power options, defragged the HD, the registry, run TuneUp Utilities, virus scan, Spybot, etc. I can't seem to figure out the root of the problem. This has come about all of a sudden, and it's getting worse.
I'm not really sure what I can provide, so basically, tell me what I'm either doing wrong, or what I have to do to get this fixed. If you think I should wipe the HD and reinstall Win7, fine. I have 212GB free at the moment, for the record, so I don't think that'd be an issue. I do have a lot of files I can get off of it, though (lot of concerts).
Anyway, I'm at a loss as what can be wrong right now. Please, if you can help, I'm all eyes.

Update to the latest Intel Rapid Storage drivers (10.x.x.x series). And try to keep the laptop on idle for a while (don't touch it) that will get the garbage collection active (or something like that). Haven't had the stutter for quite a while now tho.
-
And go to VAIO control center and make sure your thermal strategy is NOT set to silent.

hx,
sorry for the dumb question, but how do I update just that driver? I do not want to turn on auto updates for Windows ... my Intel Rapid Store is running 9.6.0.1014
when I go to Online support from within the Intel Rapid Store, I ran their scan and it says my video driver, wireless and wired networking have newer drivers.
The video reports.
Product Detected Intel® HD Graphics
Current Driver Installed 8.15.0010.2021
Newer Driver Available: 15.17.12.64.2226 (8.15.10.2226)
If I use this method to update my wireless, will it wipe out my settings? it took me awhile to get this to connect at 300Mbps using N instead of g ... had to dig to find the settings I needed, and I probably would have a hard time remembering the steps I took.
Here is what it reported after scanning;
Product Detected Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6200
Current Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility Installed 13.2.1.0
Newer Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility Available: 13.3.0.0
but the one thing the scan did not show was the Rapid Store driver.
Thanks -
this is what they called degraded SSD...
1. Intel RST 10.x.x.x drivers are not available to public yet so you must find it yourself or intel drivers pour Raid/Sata/Ata/Ahci
2. make sure "SuperFetch" service is disabled
3. Do Not Defrag your VAIO Z with SSD
4. install this software from sony SATA Registry Update version 1.0.0.07280 : Sony Asia Pacific
5. check your WEI score for the SSD is it still 7.9? -

Which drivers do I want for #1? 10.0.0.1046? I want to make sure I get the right ones, so I don't want to go assuming.
I defrag using TuneUp Utilities. I don't use the Windows defrag program, and I use the fast defrag. Why is it unwise to defrag a SSD? I've read both sides, but don't really have any idea why you shouldn't.
I will also install the software you listed in #4. What does it do, specifically? -
do you realized that windows 7 automatically turn off auto defrag?
windows itself don't suggest to defrag SSD because the more you write the more it will lag
i forgot 1 more point
make sure your intel RST write back cache is "Disabled Enable" -
Another thing I find interesting re: Firefox: I close it, then open it again, and it tells me that it's already running (via little popup). I have to wait to re-open it.
I have disabled SuperFetch, and will be updating my RST drivers shortly.
I was unaware of the defrag situation. As said before, I've read that you should and shouldn't defrag, with no real concrete arguments on either. I may have defragged the thing 3-4 times total.
How do I make sure that my write-back cache is "disabled enable"? -
i mean it must be disabled in black color not enabled in black color...
after the superfetch disabled. just make the pc idle, no antivirus background scan no nothing for 1-2 hours then you will realized that the lag will go away...
edit:
i know all this because it happened to me and make my ssd error...
i have learnt from mistake and i wont do it again XD -
Thank you for your help. I appreciate it quite a bit. Hopefully I post about success in the morning! -
actually there are some tools that can tell wheter your computer is lagging or not
use HD tune Pro
in the setting choose full test 64kb
then when you scan it you can see most surprising thing but since you have done the setting you can't see it anymore... -
One last thing, before I head off...does anybody know what bload17.dll is? When my machine booted up, it said that module was missing. I don't know what it goes to, and a google search yielded nothing.
Any help on that is appreciated. -

Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Try running Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware it's a very effective AV scanning/removal tool
-
try msconfig and disable that from service or startups
