Hello all. I own a Z520 and would like to change the harddrive to an ssd. I already bought a crucial CT128M4SSD2 for it, but what I am having a hard time finding is a guide on how to replace it. Every link I try to follow on older post always comes up as invalid. So, if anyone has an ilustrated guide on how to change the hard drive on one of these models, that would be helpfull for me (even if its a YouTube video).

    Thanks

SPEEDwithJJ, thanks for the help, however, I was more into looking of some ilustrated (pictures) example of people that have already done it.

    Oh, I see.

However, I've done the exact same kind of swap before & the VGN Z manual is very good because it gives step by step (pic by pic) instruction on how you go about opening up the VAIO notebook & getting to the HDD. :) I just wish that the VPC Z manual is the same. :(

I suggest that you download the VGN Z manual, go through it quickly for the sections that you need, give yourself some uninterrupted free time, & slowly but carefully work on your notebook & I'm very sure that you'll be fine. :) A couple of the tabs holding down the palmrest keyboard set can be a bit tricky. If either side seems to be "stuck", don't force it open using all your force, don't panic & just remain calm. Rest for a while & carefully retry again. The palmrest will eventually separate from the base nicely.

    Good luck. :)
