Hi-
I just got the latest Z series SVZ131190X and was wondering if it had a mini-PCIe slot. I saw elsewhere on this forum that someone had added an eGPU to a Z2 via mini-PCIe. However, some tear down pics I saw claim that the slot he used for the mod contains the WLAN card. Is this correct? If so, does this model have another slot perhaps for a WWAN card? I would like to install Linux and I am exploring adding a mini-PCIe SSD to this slot to avoid messing around with the fake raid (apparently not directly supported with current releases) and re-partitioning and such. I will do it if necessary, but was hoping that this might be an option and add a little extra storage to boot.
Thanks!

Hey,
Sorry for bumping up the old post, but I'm investigating the same option. So far I can see from laptop torn down pictures that there is a mPCIe slot near VGA port. You can not boot OS from it, not supported by BIOS and also too slow for it.
Looks like it is only x1 lane, so no more than 250MB/s in theory. I can see from HWiNFO that my WLAN and WiFi cards are attached to other PCIe ports. I do not have WWAN card, but you might have it in this spare port. I'm going to tear down my laptop once warranty runs out in a few month and see what are the options. But looks like people using it for some slow storage solutions. Although I could not find any mPCIe SSDs larger than 240GB.
Let me know if you have some other ideas for that port apart from external graphics which I do not need.
Z series SVN131190X mini-PCIe slot?
