Trying to configure a Z series laptop from the Sony website. I couldn't find any options for an SSD drive. Am I missing something? I searched the forum and seems like people have SSDs in their Z series machines. Is there a reason they don't offer SSD?

Sony is out of stock of SSDs (no one is sure why). It could be that there is a shortage of Samsung SSDs (that Sony uses), or that Sony is planning to switch type of SSDs it uses in its laptops (does not seem too likely to me, but who knows).
If you really want to order a Vaio Z with a SSD installed, I'd recommend going through Portableone ( www.portableone.com). They are an authorized retailer of Sony laptops, and they fit SSDs themselves before shipping. The best part is that they have several different brands and types of SSDs to choose from. I recently ordered my Vaio Z through them with an Intel X-25m 160GB SSD, which gets excellent reviews.
They also have the P1 Optimized Windows 7 Professional image as a free option, which basically means they remove all the bloatware and crap that Sony puts on their systems (while retaining the key Vaio utilities). -
I checked out portableone, but they don't seem to have T9900 processor that I want. It is available on Sony's website.
