for now....i guess. why can't Sony copy Apple and use a small brick with built-in ac plug (NOT with ground) and a long thin wire to plug into the Z?

then of course you wrap the thin wire around the brick, etc.

    don't Sony execs travel?

anyhow, this is what i am doing for now: I bought 3 extra of these cheap cords:

For only $1.84 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 18AWG 3 Prong AC power Cord Cable For Laptop/Notebook - 6ft | AC Power Cables For Laptop

i then plug these in where i need normally need them (office, bed, etc) and need only carry the brick with thin cable.

i know this does not solve the "real" travel issue where you are on a trip, but i find this cuts down my annoyance without spending $90 per location.

what i really am looking for is a thin-wired AC plug with the correct connection to the brick. Or better yet, a small adapter that can plug into the brick and then directly into the wall. has anyone come across that?

Thanks!!! that's exactly the adapter plug.

Does anyone know if using a non-grounded plug would present an issue? Besides being smaller, once in a while you do not have access to a grounded receptical.

It may depend on whether your brick uses a figure 8 or mickey mouse input. Figure 8's usually relate to the non-grounded plug. If your brick requires a mickey mouse input, you'll need another adapter to connect the plug to your brick, such as ZIP LINQ
