I've been Windows 7 now for quite a while and it's been great apart from the little brightness setting bug. There's also the issue of having no surround sound output via HDMI.
When I was running Vista using the stock audio/video drivers I've had no issues getting the HDMI (to my surround sound reciever via HDMI) to output surround sound, it just worked for whatever media I played.
Since switching to Windows 7, I've been unable to get any surround sound out at all, It's only outputting stereo. I've tried the various Realtek drivers and have had no luck, they don't even allow me to use HDMI sound output when the cable is connected!
Anyone else have this problem? or found a solution?
I'm running RC1 x86 on a Vaio Z (VGN-Z90S - original Jap. model). I've also tried it with earlier versions of 7 with no go, and I'm hesitant to try the RTM version. I kinda want to wait for another reformat until I get my key.
Anyone have surround on their Z through HDMI? (please let me know, what drivers/OS you're running.)
Thanks for your time.

So everyone who is running windows 7 on a Z series Vaio has no issues with surround sound coming out of their HDMI port...
or people just not using it?

Technically RTM is what you'll be getting from OEMs (minus all the bloat). You should be able to plug a retail key in on launch day and be good (RC keys don't work on RTM).
