Just curious, can you turn on the power while the lid is closed? I'd like to know when i dock the laptop if I can turn it on after docking and press the power button on the side. Thanks.

I cannot do that on my TZ but I can turn it off while the lid is closed by holding the button for a few seconds.
I'm betting the same applies to the other models that use this design which are the BZ, SR, FW and Z.

No, you have to lift the lit just a little bit on the left corner...
Otherwise you could be accidentally turning it on while its in you bag....

One user reported checking the option to turn on with lid closed via Vaio Control > Power Management.. in the mega Z-thread, so just experiment with different options on there while connected to dock and you may just achieve what you want :D

When docked, there is an electrical connection between computer and dock, so power-on-with-lid-closed could easily be restricted to work only when the computer is docked. I have no idea if the Z does this, but it should. ;)
