Some years ago, Beaups, the "guru" of the Z inside information sources dropped this little gem of a registry tweak on us to increase the maximum brightness of the Z1 screen, at least the 1600X900 version, by some 50%.

My question: since most professional measurements (see Notebookcheck.net's review ) show the Z1's 900p screen having maximum brightness of 300 nit, and doubtfully had any knowledge of the registry tweak, is it fair to estimate this screen's maximum brightness at over 400 nit?

Seems awfully bright to me compared to, say, the current Asus UX31A, rated at 450 nit, but I was wondering what others may think.

Bump. Is this truly not intriguing to anyone? One of my reasons for interest is that I have a Z1 1600 x 900 screen from a dead laptop that I'm thinking of changing out for a fhd screen in my Z13. We're talking 220 nit vs. 350-400 if my theory is right. Anyone got a light meter? Maybe I should post this in the Z1 thread, but it is largely a noman's land these days. To me, the Z1 is still relevant - as strong as the best ultrabook out today - and most have determined 900p is about ideal for a 13" display. Problem with the Z FHD is that it's really not bright enough to use outdoors or even indoors with lots of bright lights.

Any of you 130 lookers have a comment?

Not really, but I'm wondering if I could do the same with my S13 :p
