    Hello,

I'm trying to use the second mPCIExpress slot in my Z11 for a full size Intel WiFi card. When I replace the Gobi 2000 with the Intel card it doesn't show up in Windows. The Gobi card doesn't show up either but I haven't really worked at that so I'm not sure if installing the software would fix that.

Is this a standard mPCIExpress slot? Is there some Bios setting to enable it? Should the Gobi card show up under normal circumstances in device manager without any additional software?

    Thanks

From what I have been told by a reliable source, pyr0, the mini pcie slot for the Gobi is USB only. So only USB based cards, like the Gobi, will work. Notice in the device manager that the Gobi shows up as a USB device.

I have just replaced the Intel 6200 with an Atheros based WiFi/BT card see this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/581859-vpc-z-wifi-bt-upgrades-alternatives.html

Can I ask why you want a second WiFi card?

Thanks for the response. I don't need a second card but I'd like to add something internal that is compatible with Backtrack5. I don't have a compatible half-sized card on hand so I thought I'd use the second slot and add a full-sized card.

I'll pickup something half-sized that works with BT5 and put it in the normal slot.

    Thanks again!
