    Hello,

first of all thank you for the guides and threads about installing 7 on the Z, its been really helpfull.

Im still having an annoying issue on my VGN-Z11MN running 7 64bits:
the wifi card is disconnecting randomly, and I have to start the troubleshooter to resolve the wifi connection, and sometimes the wifi card will even disappear from the device manager list, and Ill have to reboot.
I have installed the intel AGN 5100 13.0.0.107 driver but Im not sure its the correct one to use, also I have a unknown base system device listed in other devices.

Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated.

I aswell had this problem aswell even after alternating between Sonys drivers and intels. I'm not sure, could it be your router which is causing loss of connection? I ended up using the Vaio Recovery partition and recovering my Z to stock settings which seemed to fix it. Sorry, I know how unbelievably frustrating this problem is.

I think your wifi card is not good. A friend had the same problem. He switched to an Intel 6200 and it works very well.

The base system device must be "Ricoh Memory Stick Controller"

Thank you for the quick answer,
its not the routeur's fault, there are 3 other machines connected without problems to the wifi network, and I there was no issues with the laptop running xp64.
Ill try to switch to the Intel 6200 drivers to see if that helps.

there have been many reports of issues with that 107 driver. You should be using the drivers from Sony's site.

Unfortunately last time I checked there wasnt x64 wifi drivers for this model,
it's also hard to find out what is the card model inside so I could try out alternative options.
