    Hi folks,

My Z11 trackpad has a funny half-hour after bootup. The trackpad starts moving vertically of its own accord and doesn't respond to horizontal movement except if I hold down a mouse button (in which case it is perfectly behaved).

Searching the internet and this forum, it seems other people also have problems with the trackpad, but after the half-hour my trackpad returns to normal and everything is OK with the world.

I've tried reinstalling drivers but to no avail.

I'm not sure whether it's a hardware or software problem, but it's rather odd that the trackpad resumes normal behaviour after half an hour.

Any suggestions are most welcome (I'm out of warranty BTW).

    Thanks.

Maybe some weird contact issue. When heat up, obviously the trackpad works as it should again. You can open the laptop and check if trackpad ribbon cable is in place and everything.

Possible software solution may be reducing sensitivity in Synaptics mouse properties and/or palm check setting.

    Good luck!

I followed the post by Zoinks2k and disassembled the laptop. There doesn't seem to be anything I can do with the palmrest/trackpad other than inspect the PCB and clean the metal contact, which I did.

After everything was put back together, no bootup mouse problems. However, the laptop will probably still warm. Tomorrow morning will be the real test...keeping fingers crossed.

simply re-installing drivers does nothing. There are settings in the registry and maybe on the hdd too which are left behind. Its a driver issue, but you'll hve to do more than just re-install. Try to search registry for these settings before installing again.

Booted up the laptop this morning, and no trackpad problems!
