I've been waiting impatiently for the higher specced Z11 to become available (VPC-Z11Z9E) to become available in the UK for the £2,200 mark but I never saw it for sale and it looks like it never will be now.

The Z12 is now appearing and I've had a good read through the US threads about this machine but I've not seen much detail about it in the UK. Laptopsdirect have prices up for two of the machines but given their specs are mainly wrong (or appear to be) I don't know if I can put much faith in their specs.

As far as I can see on the Sony site, the new base Z12 loses the backlit keyboard but otherwise the same? Then the next one up gets a slight 200Mhz speed bump (still an i5) and ram increase up to 6GB but still has the 1600x900 screen, dual 128GB SSDs and no i7. The bank busting £2,700 machine offers it all but that's a massive step over the £2,200 for the previous version which itself was as much as I was going to pay.

I'm just wondering if I should grab a Z11 and put up with the lower specs before it's gone or be patient and see if the upper end Z12's or quad SSD prices drop.

    Thanks,
    John
