I just recieved my z12 yesterday. Love the form factor but I noticed that the screen is dim, my samsung x460 was a lot brighter and right now I am typing with all my lights off and the screen is even dimmer... to the point that I can not see and I turned the brightness up to the max. Right now, the brightness controls are not even working. I have the full hd screen. Any else have these problems? If this is the max brightness (I dought) or get fixed this computer will go back asap.

I fixed it. You have to turn autobrightness of in the VAIO Control Center.

A zig-zag line of dead pixels, around 4mm in length...

sorry to hear that. Do you think that with time live pixels can become dead e.g with pressure on the lid when the unit is in a bag? If so, I wounder what the lcd life will be?

It's very rare for a pixel to "become" dead. It's typically a manufacturing defect. Disappointing that Sony missed these in QA but if you have a good display its a safe bet that it will continue to be good.

i would say the safest way is to get the sony sleeve case and transport it via holding it by hand

the screen is really fragile... transporting it in a bag will apply pressure to the screen casing, and cause the screen to smash it to the keyboard itself..

this will cause the screen to become bruise / scratch

The laptop ships with a foam pad that fits between the keyboard and the screen. Rather than throwing this away, I opted to keep this, and will use it when traveling with the Z in a backpack.

Yes... I will be using the foam like cover that came with it, to cover the keyboard when the unit is closed. I cant afford another computer for the next 3 years!
