    Hi all,

As you can see from my sig my Z11 been stolen and I need to get a new one. I have managed to source a Z12Z9E/X (I7, 8gb Ram, 256gb SSD) from Sony Centre and I can pick it up Tuesday. However I been told by Sony Style and reading this forum that the Z13 will be released very soon.

I have read all the relevant threads and seen the link to Sony Asia that there probably only going to be a processor upgrade but still.

Do you think I should just pick the Z12 up on Tuesday or hold out for the Z13 incase there are some unexpected upgrades?

Please help this is killing me!!!

    Thanks

I say wait for the z13, unless you can get discounts or offers on the z12.

They offered me £80 discount so the final price is £2620 which is not much. I even walked away and still didnt try to stop me so I am guessing they are not that bothered about selling it to me.

    Decisions, decisions

Wait for Z13 and get that, or get Z12 with a discount once Z13 is out. If you can wait.

I was also going to wait. I knew that the adobe bundle comes free with Vaio's right now, and was still willing to wait knowing it probably won't be there for the refresh. I also knew that there is a huge discount on SSD upgrades which could also not be there after the refresh (and I knew I'd have to step up on the SSD for the z13 because 128 gigs is not enough when you want to leave 20-25% of the capacity unused for sustaining max ssd performance), but I was still willing to wait. Then a couple days ago Sony decided to knock off an additional 105 bucks off the top of the Z12 (you only see the adjusted price after you clock on the "customize" link, so I decided to pull the trigger. Too much in total discounts and free software to pass up on knowing that they MIGHT not be around for on the refreshed z13. I mean the main reason I was willing to wait was incase of any style upgrades, but that doesn't really matter anyhow.

And its not like I won't buy a new laptop in 3 years anyway.

EDIT: I was also worried they'd remove the Z13 off the EPP program (i get an additional 10% off the total price of my customized Z12)

I think I'm going to wait for the Z13 as I just read the Europe white paper on the Z13 thread and the top model Z13Z9EX has blu ray player included in the price at 3300 Euros. Converted back to £ it's around the same price as the Z12Z9E at the Sony Centre.

So for the same price the Z13 gets a processor upgrade to i7 640 and Blu Ray which makes it worth waiting for me. Plus the fact they are not offering me as big as discount as you guys to take the Z12.

    Cheers

I know I was too careless before but now that I am a victim I'm going to totally beef up my security.

    What diagonal lines?

I just got a call from the Sony Centre and my Z12Z9E/X has arrived so I will be picking it up this afternoon. I was going to wait for the Z13 but I cannot justify paying the price hike Sony has slapped on it especially when there is already an £400 extra for essentially same spec Z12 over my old Z11 (I love that machine sob...).

I look forward to reading any reviews of the Z13 and especially on any difference between them but from what I seen there isnt much apart from a better processor and price rise.

    Regards

Good luck with that new one, keep an eye on it!
Actually I don't think the processor is that much better you can see the difference outside of benchmark scores.

If I had to pay myself, I would go for a Z12 (unless they improve the ssd-durability) ;)

You all should wait until 9/26 to form opinions on pricing/config options.

Well, the base Z12 is currently 1200 on Sonystyle.ca, so a 700 dollar price reduction looks very tempting unless something special is happening with the Z13...

    Yeah I'd be picking up a Z12 @ 1200 in a heartbeat.

No, I already asked. The only way around it is to ship it to a physical Canadian address and have it shipped into the US. The trade off is that warranties will not be valid in the US if bought from Canada.
