Well I should have known better but I took the advice of the Vaio Care and the Sony website updated a bunch of Sony drivers I was offered... and naturally it broke things.
I've had Sony notebooks for 10+ years and I should know by now to be really wary of accepting their "upgrades / fixes" since 50% of the time it seems things break. But anyway...
At this point I get a "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" in Device Mgr that refuses to find a driver. I am trying to pair to audio devices, and I can pair the devices no problem, but when I try to connect it will never create the Bluetooth Audio device and hangs up not finding the services. Things I have tried:
- All different versions of upgrade/downgrade for Blootroof drivers from Sony
- Removing all devices and reinstalling, and re-trying using all different versions drivers as above
- Found some ref to the "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" that said to install Windows Mobile Device Blootoof or something from Microsoft, which indeed makes the <!> go away on the device but still nothing works
- Clearing the ENUM/BT etc. entries in the registry per some web tips so it doesn't get confused by old pairings... I am able to re-pair but still never creates the audio devices
Other info:
- I do get some of the "Bluetooth Auxiliary" devices properly it seems - AADP (sink), Bluetooth Server, Hands-free Profile
- Vaio Smart Network switch for Bluetooth works fine to enable / disable... if I delete drivers and disable / enable, Win7 immediately identifies hardware and reinstalls drivers... except for that one device
- Just 2 weeks ago all was working perfectly fine - it was only after doing a series of updates that this imploded... I didn't make notes unfortunately but it included I think Display drivers, Wireless card, BIOS update... But trying to revert any of those did not help the situation..
Unfortunately I can't System Restore the registry back which I'm certain would fix it because by doing the updates they kept doing backups and pushed the "good" config backup off the list...
Help? TIA!
Z2 Bluetooth broken after upgrades... "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" not recognized?
