Hi,
recently i bought a sony z21 with 1600x900 display. I am / was very satisfied with the notebook till I saw, that there are stripes in the display.
There are really weak and only visible if i move something (like a window).
First i tought it could be a driver problem. But the effect is visible in windows and in ubuntu.
The problem is if you once aware of it, you see it always! And that is really annoying.![]()
I thought it is maybe a faulty controller or display. But a new Z21 in the shop has the same effect.
here you can see what I mean:
Sony Z21 1600x900 annoying stripes in the display - YouTube
Remark: It is not the horizontal stripes, which came from the recording.
Anyone else has that effect? Do the FHD also have it?

I have seen these lines on all LED screens.
-
They're normal, I have them too on my Z13. I noticed them all the time at first, but you stop noticing them. From time to time I see them flash by, but that hardly ever happens anymore.
Unfortunately it's just completely normal with most LED displays... -
i can believe it.
I have a also Thinkpad T410, who has a led display and there are no such stripes.
How is the effect called? -
If you look at the picture in the below post, you'll see the stripes on the Vaio Z:

It's exactly the same problem on the FHD screen.
I've not seen that on other notebooks I've used. Even so, I never normally notice it, so it doesn't bother me. -
I occasionally see the diagonal lines on my Z as well, both the Z2 and my old VGN-Z.
Older thread about the issue:

Hmm...so it is flaw in the design and sony won't fix it.
-
well it is weird, but I like theses diagonal lines. They do not bother me at all.
But I guess on full-HD display there are less visible.
I remenber them on my VGN-Z11 and VPC-Z11
