I have a VPCZ2 that I purchased 32 days ago. I have been having a problem where the system completely freezes up. I thought that I narrowed it down to occur only when I had an external display using a VGA adapter on the docking station. However I just had the same thing happen after switching to HDMI port on the docking station.

When I had 2 external monitors (1 VGA, 1 HDMI) connected to the docking station...I was getting freezes like 4-6 times a day.

So I removed the VGA monitor and was fine for 1.5 days until just now.

I have not experienced a freeze like this when I have no external display.

The other strange thing is that the system logs show no critical errors whatsoever except for when it comes back up I get the following...

    Code:
    KERNAL-POWER 41
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
I just called the Sony store where I purchased the unit and set an appt to have it looked at...but I am a little apprehensive as to the prospects of them being able to diagnose. I hope I am not looking at 10-14 day product replacement/service option - that would mean completely removing my data and being without a laptop for that long. Not a good option.

I just spent over $3000 for this unit and I feel burned to be having this issue.

Otherwise, when it's working right - it is blazingly fast and great.

Has anybody else experienced similar problems?

My Z2 is connected via HDMI and VGA, too and I have no such problems.

Maybe the old crappy Sony ATI Driver are the fault. Try to update to the actual drivers posted by leshcat in his blog!

I have the same issue. Mostly happens when browsing, but not always. I have 3 screens attached, 2 via dock, 1 via vga port on the Z.

Just did a clean install of everything and same issue.
