I have (happily) stuck with my Z1 as my everyday driver but with the amazing clearance sales at the Sony Outlet I decided it's time to move up to 2011 technology!

I've been alternating between the Z1 and Z2 for the last 3 weeks or so and noticing on the days I use the Z2 I have wrist pain and even a bit of carpal tunnel going up my right arm. I've been able to get used to the low pitch and even the infernal tiny right shift key and mostly type at the speed and getting close to accuracy I get on my Z1, but I can't think of anything else causing this wrist/arm pain.

Can I get some feedback from those who made a similar switch - either from Z1 to Z2/SVZ or from any other "normal" keyboard to these very shallow keyboards.

    Thanks.

It will take some adjustment. I was the same easy when I can from my Air to the Z1. I find the Z2/3 keyboard area a nice comfortable height, but you are going to notice the shallow keys.

My main struggle was adjusting in that area because the Z1 keyboard was like typing on a sponge vs the Z2/3 feeling like the desk itself.

Nope, no fatigue. And I hope I won't get any now that you mentioned it. :)

Recently switched from Z11 to SVZ and I really like the distinct feeling of the new keyboard. The only thing I like more on the Z11 is the arrow key "island" which is so much easier to find when it's offset just a cm. That move also forced that smaller right shift key you dislike(d). It doesn't bother me much cause I very seldom use it.

Regarding the wrist, I guess the angle of the wrist becomes smaller with the SVZ because of the lower profile of the laptop itself *and* the absence of the palmrest. Maybe you should lower your chair to maintain the same angle for your wrists when you use the Z2?

Thanks guys. I knew I could count on the people who are always there to help! I actually love the keyboard (except the infernal right shift - how do you avoid using it when typing, say a capital "W"?). It's only the wrist fatigue and carpal tunnel that worried me. I'm doing a lot of new workout stuff that may be causing that. Overall, loving this machine more than I thought I would, more than the first time I had one for a week or so. Takes longer and using it daily to do the conversion.

    Again, thanks.

That would be left shift with left pinky and w key with left index finger.

Methinks you're doing the index finger walz when typing? :)
