Hard to say.. I'm going to redirect the smaller threads later if necessary...
Seems to be some driver discussion here at least.. -
Do you have a specific question in mind?
I have just installed windows 8 on a seperate partition. And so far it has been worth trying out. But I would not say that as it is, is a good replacement for windows 7.
The following are some problems that I have found when operating it on the z2:
1. shortcut keys "brightness", "assist" and "vaio" don't work
2. cannot seem to add bluetooth devices to it.
3. trackpad loses its intuitiveness and does not seem to coincide with with movement on display
4. cannot seem to find basic accessories to put the OS to practical use. I had to do a search to find wordpad. Otherwise, there is evernote. But it doesn't seem to be working properly.
5. there is no start button - so basic things like shutting the computer down involved more effort than necessary. Plus you can't attach a bluetooth mouse (perhaps a usb one should work) which amplified the burden.
I was unsure of how much space to give to this partition. But if you are simply trying it out, then 20-30GB should be sufficient. The OS itself takes up about 15GB for the 64-bit version. There are stacks of free apps to download. Some are alot of fun like the "Cut the Rope" game made by the same guys who made Angry Birds.
The z2 can't utilise w8 to its fullest capacity because of the non-touchscreen. But even if the there was a touch screen the design of the z2 and all laptops that fold-out like a book aren't conducive to be used as a touch computer because of the protruding keyboard. It seems to be better suited to tablets and the vaio u (2012- see below) which has a screen that is more easily accessible.
Z2 with Windows 8?
