Hello folks,
this morning I was cleaning my keypad (laptop switched off) and accidentally presses Assist button (briefly lit-up) that triggered laptop start-up action![]()
Personally I never liked those "quick buttons", somehow they don't belong there and I never use them.
Now, I have uninstalled "Splashtop Quick access web software" but buttons still work.
Is there any way to make pressing button doesn't trigger anything?
Cheers,
Miki

You can disable the Buttons in Windows (use Vaio control center and if you can't deselect all buttons, point VAIO Event Service to nowhere). The ASSIST button still keeps powering up the laptop as it is hard-wired to the embedded controller and is used to boot up e.g. into recovery. If you want to get rid of the latter (hardware function) you need to cut/unplug wires inside the laptop.

Thanks pyr0.
WEB opens default browser (although I have uninstalled Quick access software - wonder if it's necessary at all? C'mon - 250MB for a f*cking button?!), and I have set VAIO to open Vaio Control Centre.
ASSIST - that's weird, as with me it just power-up laptop in normal mode (like I press power button). Pressing it while laptop ON does nothing, maybe because I have formatted recovery partition.

Did you have any luck disabling the WEB button from opening the browser?
