I experience partial screen blackouts while using the SolidWorks 2012 CAD suite. it's like the display driver cannot render parts on the screen that aren't being changed during normal use. Furthermore it hangs/seriously lags on opening multiple files or the creation of assemblies.

This happens with the official Intel display driver, as coming from Sony: version 8.15.10.2353.

I tried AMD's intel display driver 9.17.10.2843 (23-8-2012) amongst others and the problems in the CAD program are gone. However, the aero features of W7 are locked and the 'exclamation mark' pictogram won't go away in the System tree.

Is here any other driver out there that can be installed without the PMD (I tried installing the current driver from the AMD/Intel bundle from the Sony site and Leschat's drivers.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

The drivers from Sony are the combination -- to handle both the Intel and AMD graphics. If you plan to NEVER use the PMD, some have posted that they could install the HD 3000 drivers from the Intel site. The trade being that you can not use the PMD graphics.

I have to wonder if you are asking too much of HD 3000 graphics -- high end CAD work doesn't sound like something they had in mind for that chip set.

I have the latest Leshcat's installed and I don't have an Aero issues. Did you run some sort of driver cleaner before install?

Thanks for the replies! I haven't used a driver cleaner. That sounds like a good idea! Have fallen back to an older c2d machine, which still works for some little assemblies. Will report when I fixed it :)
