    Z540 max. RAM?

    HI,
    Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but any way to incresse the max. RAM of 4, to 6 for the Z540 ?

    That notebook has the latest chipset available, physically the computer should be able to handle up to 8GB.

    However, Sony might have limited the maximum allowable RAM to 4GB in BIOS. If they choose to do that, there is nothing you can really do.

    That being said, you probably could install a 4GB chip and a 2GB chip and it work. Probably.

    It looks like somebody was able to install 6GB on his Z5xx. >
    Would have to do some research and find this post >

    Right now, I have a 2 GB and a 1 GB in it, so if I brought a 4 GB I would probably get 6 GB ? (under 64 bit OS).

    I confirm the current maximum amount achieved is 6GB.

    I am waiting for the firmware of Z4 (aka Z790 in US) to attempt unlocking the limit to 8GB.
