Hello,
I just bought a Sony Vaio Z590 and it won't boot. I am good with computers but I mostly use Linux and Mac OS X.
The computer came without a hard drive, so I installed one. Before and after the HDD, it would never start up. It turns on, the fans turn on, and the caps lock and numerical lock on the keyboard will both turn on their respective lights. However, it will not make any noise (I tried booting without ram, no bios ram beep). I tried removing and reseating the ram, no help. The HDD works fine. I tried connecting it to both HDMI and VGA outputs, with no success.
Also, the HDD light comes on, and if I put a CD in, I will hear it spin as if it is trying to read it.
I've pulled the BIOS battery to reset it, I've removed the a/c adapter and battery and held down the power button for a minute. I am at a loss. Does anyone have any tips?
The previous owner said that a heavy bag had been on the unit before it stopped working...
Thanks!

Possibly the power button the part where you push may have come loose or perhaps that part could be defective. I know when my Sony TT power button is not set as it should be i will have issues turning my laptop on.
