Recently, I just my my sony vgn-sz 220 to run a 1080P .mkv movie on my laptop almost flawlessly using zoom player & CoreAVC video decoder. However, there were some slight lag.

Currently I am running my vgn-sz220 with a clean install of windows xp (thanks to this forum) and planning to reformat and do another clean install. However, I don't think the tutorial here ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=138509&highlight=update)is updated- but maybe I am wrong.

So I have a few questions.

    1) nVidia just recently released 179.48 drivers for geFroce, but this sony laptop can't locate any of the components for drivers to install. I tried to use the universal extractor, but it did not work. Does this nVidia driver capable of being installed on the sz-220? if so, how?

    2) Am I looking at the right places for an updated version to do "clean xp pro install" for the sz series (particularly the sz220)? if not, can you direct me please?

    3) Has anyone else able to run 1080P h.264 .mkv's files flawlessly? If so, what are you using (software, decoders, etc.)? And can you also direct me?

For those that are wondering what I am trying to do, I am trying to setup a home theater PC using this notebook since I was able to load up 1080P movies and save some $$$ (rather than building a new HTPC)

I hope someone can help me out and thanks in advance!

    1) Go to this site: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
    2) I can't help you since I'm having Vista X64 in my SZ7
    3) No problem for me. I'm using Windows Media Player + Klite Codec (Haali splitter + ffdshow decoder)
