These sony vaio tx650 model computers has 7 gigabaye - almost 20%- less harddrive then advertised.

I purchased a Sony Vaio TX650 computer from J&R computers 3 days ago. These are top of the line sony models with 11" screens.

Besides overall ergonomic design being extremely poor these computers are equipped with less space than advertised.

TX models reserve 7 gigs of harddrive space for recovery partition. This recovery partition cancels the need for a recovery cd but this makes the total usable space 53gigs and there is nothing else that can be done about this.

Sony Vaio TX models do not accept any type of new harddrives with higher capacity.

When I called in the support they told me they had received many complaints about this issue in Sony Vaio computers and there is nothing they can do about it.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT THIS POST?...

your post reveals how ignorant you are. search around for how you can remove the partition. 60GB is the largest 1.8" HD right now. as far as ergonomics, the ports and drives on the tx could not have been placed better. I LOVE MY TX.

I have the 651P. Same model except doesn't have the WWAN. 6 hours of battery life is a bit of a stretch but it's consistently giving me 5 hours. Heat/Fan not an issue. Unless you plan to run stressful 3D games or work heavily on the video card, it shouldn't be an issue.

Monster, I know you are considering buying TX and there are a lot of question, but you are cross posting and also quoting someone else's post from somewhere else without pointing out the original poster's ID and the forum you quoted it from. You should be more mindful of you forum etiquette.

Everyone wants to make an informed decision, but so far you are just indecisive and begging for someone to make a decision for you. You should try to sit down and think about how much noise and heat you can live with and not keep asking what others think -- they are not you and their preference will not be yours.
