I've got an FS series laptop, but I got it with only 512 ram since SONY ram is expensive.

Can somebody please recommend memory configuration for me?
I don't know what's support by the laptop and the manufacturer's site was very confusing.

    Can I do:

512+1024 or the sticks have to be matching?

    or

    0+1024?

Many thanks in advance, would really appriciate the help.

P.S. 1g+1g is probably expensive and not worth it?
If I do 512+512 does it matter if the sticks are from different manufacturers?

The sticks do not have to match in size. 512+1024 is possible.

The sticks do not have to be of the same manufacturer. Different sticks are compatible as long as they are of the same type (DDR / DDR2).

Different size in MB is no problemo (I run 1 GB and 512 MB here). The manifacturer is no problemo (I run Samsung and another brand here). The speed and type are important. It has to be DDR2 (in your case) and the speed must be the same. If you have Core Duo, 533 MHz and 667 MHz are both possible.

You should check out http://www.18004memory.com. Their site will help you find the correct RAM for your system and their prices are competitive. I recommend getting as much RAM as you can afford. I maxed out my TX750P and it's great.

Thanks very much for the replies, much appriciated.

Aparently my current laptop has 256 x 2...
I'm going to buy 2gigs I guess since upgrading ram is as easy as changing a sim card on the phone.

Just gotta figure out what works with the laptop. Trying to figure out what pins and stuff works. Went to couple of websites and they had different info :(
