what do you guys think about the amazon post..?...
regarding the tx650 that they are selling with a 200$ rebate..the poster said that this could be a "batch a" which they want to get rid of..fan noise...and then sell a revision "batch b" later..or is this just a good deal between amazon and sony?...

Unless you don't really care about your notebook having heat issues/fan issues (which it sounds like it from your post), I would say go ahead, but otherwise steer clear. Most people care about their notebook having heat issues, because if their notebook gets too hot, it could potentially damage some internal components. Additionally, excessive fan noise can be very irritating after a long time, unless the fan is whisper quiet. If Sony's trying to "get rid" of their defective/problem notebooks by slapping on a $200 rebate on them, I wouldn't buy it. Period.

Finally got my TX650. The heat is noticeable but not terribly so. However, the fan noise is very much there! But I love this baby too much

I don't think anyone but Amazon workers can answer that. I personally don't think Amazon is trying to get rid of "rev. A" by slashing price, but merely a coincidence that they have sold out their first shipment (because of the rebate) and they are waiting for another shipment.

It is normal for an early production machine to have some undesired defects because the manufacturing process is being fine tuned, BUT it is extremely unlikely that such effect concentrated on a particular model. If Amazon is trying to get revised TX in their stock, they will have to slash price across their entire TX line. So when you see only TX650 has rebate and other TX don't, it actually is an evidence to support that they are not trying to get revised TX by selling first batch cheap.
