    Hi.
    Hey, FE owners out there,
have you guys noticed any bothering problems with your machine yet?

Has anybody successfully clean installed HDD(I will be doing that when I get mine for sure...)? I see some people saying there's problems after clean install or something...compatibility issue i guess?
I heard something like SZ having current flowing through your hands or something ?

Thank you for any answer :)

No problems so far and mine is on about 10 hours per day the last month or so. I did the same clean install as the SZ guy's post with the Sony backup DVD's. Since the handrests are plastic on the FE there won't be any electricity issues.

The only problems i had that i didn't find a fix to were with Java.. whenever i used a website or anything else which required Java the entire screen would go black and only the cursor was visible and i would have to restart the computer manually.... Now iam just waiting to be able to re-order another FE since i returned the other one due to the camera not working...

Mine works fine with Java pages, hopefully that was just a fluke with the one you returned

Did you contact Sony Support or the place where you bought it (if a store), return it or send it in...not supposed to be happening in 1 month with a $2000 notebook  .

My sound card went a bit temperamental once- nice fright on a brand new laptop!- but restarting fixed the problem and i've had no issues since. I've a feeling it might have been the mute button on the chassis that started that problem. Otherwise, no. I adore the duo core processor. Right now I'm running firefox, adobe premiere elements, win movie maker and wordpad all at once, and with no slowdown.

Showed my father the run for 3dmark03- I'm not a gamer, but he's played games for years on a variety of consoles and pcs- and he was blown away at the quality and speed of the graphics shown in the tests! No probs either with vid playback of any kind either.

I have a similar problem with my FE590 PA. Unfortunatly this happens intermittently so its harder to track this problem. I leave the laptop off overnight and boot it up in the morning. After about 4 or 5 minutes after boot up, no matter what I am running (meadia player, games, ect.) the whole notebook freezes and any music playing at the time sounds like a broken record!! Ctrl Alt Del won't even respond. After a reboot, the notebook never freezes after that.

I did notice that it might have something to do with the bluetooth since every time this freezes up on me on the bottom right side i see two red "x"'s for the network connections, one for the regular wired network card (which is normal) and one saying that bluetooth is not found. Usually I just see one "x" for the wired network card being disconnected. I don't use any bluetooth devices, yet sometimes it seems to appear as a red x. When this happens I can be assured it will freeze up in a few minutes

Here's an update on my freezing problem:
It was the RAM!!! After suspecting faulty RAM, i ran the windows memory diagnostic ( http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp) and the results came back without any problems. At this point I was really frustrated why after a cold boot the FE would freeze intermittently within 2-10 minutes of boot no matter what programs I ran. I knew that if i sent it back to sony that I probably would not get it back until a month later. Anyways so last night I took a gamble and purchased two sticks of 1 Gig memory (2 gigs total) from best buy (kingston). Booted up this morning and everything ran beautifully!! After boot i tried to run as many programs as I could to put as much stress on the processer and memory. Everything ran like buttah!! Im going on 4 hours without a hitch.

If you have lock ups on a brand new FE you may want to try replacing the RAM before you send it back

Well if it was the ram then it was faulty. Shouldnt one return it and make them pay for the new ram, why pay an extra 100 dollars or so for something that should have been okay.
