    Hi,

I'm photographer looking for informations to change my current old Vaio.
The experience with this computer was great, and I'll like to remain eith the brand.
But they don't make any model that I like right now!!

The 15.4"s has nothin to offer. The BZ could be perfect, but they are built only with integrated graphic card, not ok for me and the new Photoshop.
The FW line is a bit too big, and they still have the DDr2 Ram, while other brands are using the much faster DDR3.

Do you have any ino about a new series? Don't you think that after the Macbook pro release they should cover the professional part of the market for all the photographers and graphic designers upset with the hyper-glossy Apple monitor?
It seems to me that's time to really update what the FZ was.

    Thanks.

Sony probably won't be making a high performance 15.4" inch notebook soon. There hasn't been any rumors. The FW line is probably what you're looking for. DDR2 800mhz ram not is much slower than DDR3 1066mhz ram. The SR series could work too. It has ATI 3470 graphics.

    Umm.. i think that's a typo right?
DDR3 doesnt have much performance gain over DDR2 800MHz

    it's so strange.
The SR is the kind of laptop I'm talking about, a 15" LED version of its design with DDR3 would be perfect, and will compare directly with the new macbook pro.

Why a mistake? I'm reading different thoughts on this issue of the ram. Someone says they're basically the same, others that the new one it's a huge improvement.

the improvement is not huge, DDR3 does run a little faster then DDR2, but the latency is pretty high.. 9-9-9-24 i think
    DDR3 uses less power though

You really won't notice the difference between DDR3 and DDR2 ram. DDR3 ram does use less power, although ram isn't a big consumer of power.

DDR3 only offers higher bandwidth, but the latency is a lot more higher than that of DDR2, and in many situations (actually the majority of them), the DDR2 will outperform DDR3. The only time DDR3 will shine is if you overclock with a FSB in excess of 1600+. At 1066 vs 800, its negligible.
