hi. im trying to get the dang thing to work w/ something on my vista x64 sz-491n laptop. ive tried several things already.
1) download the original file but its only x86 when extracted..no x64 bit files like the later model sz's. ive used have disk method for the x86 files and just a black screen in camera capture utility.
2) i took my working x64 vista webcam driver from my sz650n vcc7 and modified inf to make it a vcc5 and used have disk method w/o luck also.
i dunno why sony had to make a different webcam driver for each model sz. anyone understand how i can get this to work w/ x64 bit on my sz491n machine? or even windows 7 x64 bit even because i could upgrade if i had to.

I am also searching for a 64bit driver for the Sony VGP-VCC5 camera on a VGN-SZ491N laptop - want to use it with Windows 7 64, but I suspect that any 64 bit driver would work.

I have a VGN-S483N (aussie model) it has the VGP-VCC5 webcam.
I installed Windows 7 and guess what - no video in skype. After reading alot of forums and stuffing around, the following worked:
1. Remove device through device manager
2. Download the XP driver (SODCAM-01277104-XP.EXE
) from http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNSZ430NB&upd_id=3020&os_id=7
3. Install driver - Windows will tell you it won't work.
4. Reboot - all done!! -
cool. ill have to try this also w/ msn messenger, sony vcc s/w, and skype also. thanks for the info!.
any1 get vgp-vcc5 webcam working on 64bit?
