I want something that will fit in my briefcase, fast, lots of RAM and HD to run my electronic medical record software (nextgen) which is huge and log into it online from outside the office. Other uses would be quicken, e-mail, few spreadsheets.
Also read elsewhere about some problem with mouse inversion and that maybe it was related to the way the case was designed.
Is it worth the money? Better way to get the same specs?
    Thanks in advance.

    toadman, welcome to the forums.

I like my SZ791 a lot but I'll suggest that you go for a Vaio Z instead since it is the latest series that have just been released by Sony.

    Good luck.

I've got an SZ71VN/X and I "love" it.
Its nice and light, does multitasking nicely.

So, I'd say the perfect laptop.
If it will run your medical software, I don't know. There is also an issue with the NVidia chipsets, however no Sony's seem (!!!) to be affected.

    Quote from Rachuk:
"I don't know if you know or not but Sony has released some new models the Sony Z and the Sony SR it might be worth you taking a look at these notebooks as well if you haven't looked at them already."

The thing to consider is that "first editions" might have the odd issue, as had the first SZ series. In comparison the SZ7 is tried and tested.

Good luck with you decision, I hope it will be the right one and you'll enjoy your laptop!
    All the best!

thats true there are a few unsatisfied owners of the FW series which they just purchased complaining about discoloration and creaking

i too have an SZ 6xx which i love. so far i have found no problems with it.
but i would be nice to have the latest models
