during the time the system is runing, sometimes i can hear the USB device mount/unmount sounds... it's like someone plugged in a USB device, then removed it at the same time. Is it the problem of machine or just something wrong with the OS?

not sure what it can be - i don't have any devices plugged in , i suspect it might be the camera or something else, anyone having the same experience as me? thanks.

I do hear this. My guess is the bluetooth device casue it happens often when the BT is disabled. It somehow gets enabled but soon Power Management Software detects it and disables it.

I don't know the solution yet.

    Lyrebird, i agree with you.

i turned off wireless and bluetooth after doing a semi-clean install, (i use it at home most time with wire cable connecting),then the problem occurs, it really annoys me especially when working at middle night, " dudu dude", the sound could be heard very clearly.

I will disable the bluetooth on device manage (rarely use it) to see if the annoying sound goes away. if it could be a solution i will let you know.

just curious how many sz6xx owners keep their bluetooth turning on, it consumes abit more battery power so i always turn it off even on my previous IBM thinkpad. only turn it on when nessisary.

there is a wireless on/off button on the keyboard, why not have bluetooth switcher on it? that's weird. Sony should think about this at their next generation products.

actually it's deactive, it goes actively then back to deactive shortly, that's why you hear two sounds same time.

I have been hearing the USB connect-disconnect chime as well. It seems to occur randomly. I have WLAN and Bluetooth on as i have Wifi and wireless bluetooth mouse.

BTW - if you switch the wireless switch to OFF, both bluetooth and WLAN should turn off.

I did the semi-clean Vista install so I dont have the software utility to turn this off. The blue light is ALWAYS on and I think it is also effecting my 'sleep' modes. Is there a way to turn this off in hardware?

But I already turned off the wireless on the bezel, also turn it off using sony smart wirelss application, it's not supposed to hear that sounds right? but i stil can hear it 1 or 2 times per 2 hours average.

seems only turn bluetooth off at " Device manage" could fix the problem right?

I bet alot of sz6xx owners could have the same problem as me which based on the design.

based on the guide semi-clean insall, you have to backup the "vaio recovery center" folder prior to semi-clean install, which can give you the chance reinstall any program and drivers preinstalled in the machine, included the one called " smart wireless switcher", it could turn it on or off both your wifi wirless or bluetooth wireless.

Yeah I have the "doo dude" sound too. Another unfixed glitch so far on the SZ6 is the brightness control no longer functioning after hibernation using the stamina mode. This is being actively discussed in another thread.

SZ6 is a great machine but it seems new loose threads are popping up. :s

SZ6 just came out couple weeks, we just give them some time to fix that minor problems, hopefully it could be fixed by sony soon by upgrading their dirvers.

seems alot ppl are having the problem, the annoying sounds. no one has any idea how to fix it? i am waiting.

just disable "bluetooth" at "Device Manager" contorl panel, i am keeping runing the sz650 and set the interial speakers to the loudest volume, let's see what is going to happen, for those who rarely use bluetooth, suggest turn it off at "Device Manager" for saving battery power. it's pretty easy to bring it back to work as long as you need it, change the option "disable" to "enable", that's it. DON'T select the option uninstall it, just simply disable it, it won't hurt anything but saving power.

    is it a solution?
