long story short. I'm trying to downgrade my friend's Sony Vaio VGN-C240E laptop from Vista to XP. Unfortunately I ran into one final snag and it's a big one.
I have no way of changing the screen brightness. I was wondering if anyone knows how to do something similar to what was done on this blog.

Scroll down to Brightness Control Fix. It's a custom coded thing which appears to edit the ASPI settings. I REALLY REALLY want to do this but don't know how.
The reason it doesn't work for this laptop is because it was coded for a GMA965 card and this laptop uses a GMA945. Does anyone here have the knowledge or patience to help?
Thanks,
Emmanuel

Can't help you with the screen issue. But, your friend may have another issue as well. There may be no power management under XP.

no need for power management when you have RMClock and NHC. Windows XP does have the power management but I don't know if it works. Screen brightness definitely didn't.
anyone here know about ACPI? (brightness control)
