    my 6 year old desktop is dying on me, and i don't want to shell out money for another desktop when i'm using my VAIO and iPad most of the time at home. however, i do interested in getting a docking station for my SA290X to watch movies on bigger monitor. this is the only one available for the 13'' S series model on Sony's site, anyone has experience with this?

    This one won't work for your SA! This is only for the newer SVS13/SVS13A models (with the bigger, buttonless trackpad and slotin optical drive).

    What you need is the VGP-PRS20 but that's not available on the Sony site it seems. But google PRS20 and you should be able to find plenty of stores that still have it and can ship it to you :)

    thanks for the heads up. i checked the VGP-PRS20 on the web and according to Amazon it's used for SB and SC series, didn't mention anything about SA. i also looked up the next version VGP-PRS25 and it says it is for SE series.

    Look on amazon. Recently I bought docking station VGP-PRS20 with extra charger for under $100. The only missing connector is audio jack. Bit annoying if you using ext. speaker (planning to get usb sound card). No problem with HDMI though.

    One on ebay LINK for $85

    I believe VGP-PRS30 will work too if you need extra drive.
