is anyone else having problems with thier SZ dimming for no reason? Mine has a few times. I turn it on and it will autodim down like it was on low battery, but the **** thing is plugged in! the settings look fine in the settings menu, i apply them, bam right back to dimming without reason. any ideas?

I think it has to do with the video drivers and sony's power managament. It happens similarly with the S series. So I just disabled the autodimming feature.

That's a feature of the nvidia driver. Is the notebook set to 'speed' mode? If so, check the nvidia config settings. If it's in stamina, then I'm not sure what to tell you (I've never found any type of dimming config for the intel video driver.)

That happened to me as well and I made a post about it a while back. It was very annoying and would happen in any mode... speed or stamina. I think it was worse when I came out of hibernate/standby.

If you go to the Nvidia Control panel, by right clicking on the desktop, there is a setting called "configure smartdimmer." If you go to the Idle setting, and turn it off, it should be fine.

They need to come out with some kind of software fix for this, because it seems like a good feature to save battery, but it doesn't work right.

The autodimmer seemed to work fine but I just turned it off and set the power settings to turn off the display all together. Although I can see times where the autodimm function may be nice...
