I recently received the S560 vaio, and in the process of cleaning out its junk, I can't find any information on azmixersel.exe used in the startup. anyone know what it does? it's related realtek.
thanks

I was puzzling over that myself but also didn't find an answer on the internet unfortunately. It should be from the sound chip, which is from Realtek, so maybe it enables you to change volume over the Fn key. It's just a guess though really.
Clearing out junk was a major process for me, I don't know why Sony installs all this junk, I mean what do I need the Yahoo dating manager for?? I'm not so sure I need this ICO.exe either. It seems to somehow be an enhancement for the mouse/scrolling. -
I did a quick search (I'm thinking of getting an S580) and it does seem to have to do with the Realtek installation. The word "mixer" in the filename suggests that may relate to a mixer applet. If you double-click on the little speaker in the system tray I bet it will pop up something other than the Windows default volume/mixer applet. And/or there might be a little icon down in the tray for this program.

I ended up removing the azmixersel from the startup list. I haven't had any weirdness yet, I can change the sound volume with the fn key, and I can hear mp3 just find with foobar and standard earphone. So I'm good so far.
Now, there are 2 other tasks that I'm thinking of removing.
it's the nvcpl, and spmgr.
Supposedly, the nvcpl belong to the videocard, so I can still tolerate it unless it turned out to be something completely useless. From google, it said that i should keep it if i overclock the vid. card. right now I'm not sure if the geforce in this laptop is being overclocked (with the shared memory).
For the latter, the spmgr is related to the power management, but it seemed that the laptop is utilizing the XP's own power management, unlike the old "power panel" in the older laptops.
Any input is greatly appreciated
azmixersel anyone?
