so... I'm looking at getting a tz this week, anyone have tips on where to get it? It seems conics is the best place from what I've looked at so far... Also, can I put 4 gigs of ram in this thing?

    Thanks,

    zk

Several people in this forum have recommended Portable One due to their clean Windows installation option (at no charge). The maximum RAM for this unit is 2GB (1 slot).

Best of luck -- good choice!

Heh. I was supposed to receive it 12 days ago but there were some shipping issues and I'll be getting it on Monday, which is why I haven't posted any comments yet. But, from everything I've read, 2GB RAM and one of the SSD options offers the best possible performance, so I would select the same config if I had to do it over. :)

I wouldn't have any doubt about getting a TZ from PortableOne. $100 cheaper than buying straight from Sony, and the overnight shipping is only $39. In addition, you get free Targus slip case (a nice one), 3 year theft protection service, recovery CD's with optimized Vista image, and 2 gig RAM upgrade for the TZ150 is only $150.

if it breaks you have to ship it to japan.

unless you order from dynamism, in which case, you ship it to them, and they ship it to japan.

You have the same essential issue - I don't think Sony Europe fixes US notebooks. So if you want local fixing, you need to buy it local. If you don't care about sending it out, I'd say go Japanese.
