just finished a clean install of vista on a fz240e thanks to the clean install guide by ScuderiaConchiglia. everything is working fine (instanton, fn keys, headphone jack). the only thing missing is bluetooth. the utility installed, and it's supposed to run at startup but nothing happens. there was no drivers on the recovery dvd, so i used the one from sony's site. don't even see bluetooth in the device manager or the control panel. has anyone else had this problem. any help will be greatly appreciated thankz

Just search google for widcomm bluetooth stack and download that. It is much better than the Toshiba stack available.

it looks like widcomm was purchased by broadcom. that drivers off of the sony site were from broadcom. should i try and download updated drivers from the broadcom site???. ohh and from what i've been reading on the site some FZ's have a bluetooth led on the front near the wireless switch. currently i only see wlan when i turn the switch on, shouldn't I also see the bluetooth led. 1 last thing in the wireless switch utility. there should be an option to enable and disable the bluetooth funtion, but i don't see that. all i see is selections for 2.4ghz and 5ghz wireless...any ideas???

At the risk of asking the obvious, are you sure you HAVE bluetooth on your machine? On the FZ190CTO models there are two different intel wireless cards avaialble. One included bluetooth, the other did not. What do you see in device manager? Does bluetooth show up there?

i did a system restore and "bluetooth devices" showed up in the control panel, i didn't see it in the device manager though. also on sony's support page there are bluetooth drivers. if my system doesn't have bluetooth then...
    1. why would "bluetooth devices" show up in the control panel??
    2. why would sony have drivers on their site??
    3. why have found sites saying that the laptop has bluetooth??? ( superwarehouse, costcentral, cnet)

The point was that on the FZ190, bluetooth is an OPTION. I don't know if that is the case on your model or not. Do you see any items with yellow exclamation marks in device manager? If not and if you don't see any bluetooth devices in device manager, it sounds like there is no bluetooth adapter in the machine.

So after you did the clean install, you did a system restore and it now shows up in control panel but NOT in the device manager?
