i shut down my vaio z. and then i am starting it back up. i think i hit the assist button by mistake....... and then it tells me bootmgr is missing.

i can't believe it.. i didn't install linux or anything like that.. the last thing that ran before shutdown was windows defender though.

so i had to put in a windows 7 dvd and do a automatic fixmbr.. took me 2 reboots to get back in. though nothing seems to be missing.

i tried to press assist again but that wasn't the problem, even inserting external drive via expresscard was not issue. so i am kind of paranoid maybe i am starting to see the begining of a ssd failure??

    =\

Run a full verify in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology utility. If it comes up with any errors, you may be in trouble...

The assist button boots the machine from the recovery partition. If you wiped out the recover partition or did any other strange things you will get an error instead of boot...

yeah i deleted all of that.. but when i press it it goes directly to windows (since i del'd the recovery partition..dont need it)... that's been that way long time. but just like that it told me bootmgr is missing today (after i pressed the assist button).... even when i use the normal power button too. so i had to do a fixmbr from the dvd to even use my laptop...

that's why i am saying, duno if somehow my boot sector got corrupted somehow.
