I just got my brand new SZ120P/B from compusa, and it is almost un-usable :(

First of all, the machine always hangs at the win xp loading screen whenever it's set to "SPEED" as opposed to "STAMINA". Even when I am in windows under stamina setting, the machine crashes very often randomly.

Is this defective? I think I'll try to reinstall the geforce gfx card driver and see if it helps...

I would bring it back for a new one... New laptops out of the box are not supposed to hang, especially $2000 ones!!!

Since you mention "reinstall the geforce gfx card driver" I have to ask - have you been fiddling by installing "newer" drivers?

If the machine is clean, and has been doing this since the moment you turned it on then I would suggest getting a replacement. If it was fine but then you started updating things... well we need to know what you updated! :)

This is definitely going back for a replacement. Even in windows, the machine would crash after a minute or two. everytime. I haven't been able to actually install the graphics card driver to see if it fixes the problem, because the machine would crash before i can get the install to run...

What's worse, now it seems to hang at the windows loading screen even under stamina settings...

Thanks for the replies though. And yes, it has been doing this since the moment I turned it on for the first time. In fact, the very first power up actually brought me to the "windows wasn't properly shut down" screen with the option to select safe mode.
