    buying a Sony? Check on repair issues

    Have 2 yr old Sony...live in LA....there are NO authorized repair places here....You have to mail it to their repair center, which is in San Diego...(can't even take it there, as they don't allow "walk ins"). Its a minimum of about $237 for them to look at it. I think they have one other repair center in the Northeast...

    Their so called "customer service" people are very unhelpful...would not give any alternatives...I'm pretty sure I was talking to someone in India.

    I also tried to get a RAM chip replaced...512 RAM will cost over $800. Plus, I'm not sure this will really fix the entire problem.

    So the conclusion I came to is that I am not willing to give Sony any more of my $$, so, off to buy another brand laptop.
