Just thought id let everyone know the fe is available and extremely affordably priced, with 512 ram, 1.66 dual core, 100gb HD, dvd burner, 7400, bluetooth, and the camera for 2200 AUD though computer world has them for 2000, thats about 1400 USD.

Likewise rhc, this is without postage fees either, and it comes with XP professional. Though they are charging $600 AUD for the large battery.

Thanks for the heads up on this one, Matt. I'm in the market for a nice core duo notebook and had dismissed the Sony's as being too expensive. :)

:EDIT: Matt, can you confirm that Computer World is doing the FE15GP with the 100GB drive? As far as I can see it's $2199 AUD with 80GB... which is my absolute minimum. If you managed to badger them down to $2000... all I can say is, wow.

Another quick Q... how much would an extra 512MB or RAM for one of these set you back? Landmark Computers are also doing the FE series at $2299 and $2799, although this includes an extra 512MB. If getting the extra memory is under $100 AUD and Computer World is bundling the 100GB drive, it's a very tempting offer.

I'm also considering the FE18GP, but an extra $500 AUD for the T2400 plus an extra 20GB of drive space seems excessive.

Actually i brought FE15GP from "Nexus Technology Australia" only $2174 AUD
and also got 2GB extra Ram for $370..
the stand 512ram is not enough for FE coz Turbocache at least drag 64MB from the system memory..

Thanks for the heads up, Harry... Wouldn't have spotted that one, since they don't list the FEs on their website.

I agree, 1GB is the minimum for any machine with shared graphics running WinXP.

I actually went out and had a look at the FE at SonyCentral... very nice, although the keyboard may take some getting used to.

*shrug* I guess... You never really know how a keyboard is going to be until you've used it for a few hours, it just looks a little flat, and I'm not sure how I feel about the ultra white treatment. Overall size and key spacing look good though.

Looking at your typos doesn't bode well either, come to think of it... :p
