I have movies that I bought in China which are region 6, I have movies I bought in Mexico and they are region 4 furthermore I have movies I bought in the States and they are region one. the SZ only allows me to change the region 4 times. How can I bypass that. It is absurd that for what you pay they restrict the usage. What if I want to see a movie in chinese that you can only find in region 6 I should be f*** able to do so if I want to

BTW the drive is the following:

    mat****a dvd-ram uj-852s ata :)

This is not really an appropriate question for NBR, but if you google you'll find everything you need.

Aren't there some players that just ignore the region? I thought VLC player will play anything...

I agree that the region limit wasn't designed for the convenience of users, particularly those with well-travelled notebooks. RPC1.org is an excellent resource for these matters. However, Matsh!ta ODDs aren't very user-friendly in this respect (which is probably why Sony, who also have an interest in the DVD industry, like them).

One workaround is to use DVDshrink to make copies of your DVDs (temporarily on to RW media) with the region coding stripped out.

It's irritating because I can't even get software like that to work when a DVD of another region code is put in.
